Questions & answers

What is a verifiable certificate?

A verifiable certificate is a digital credential — a course-completion, CE/CPD, training, or award certificate — that anyone can independently check against a tamper-evident record. Instead of a static PDF or image that anyone can edit, each certificate links to a permanent public verify page backed by an Ed25519-signed server record: change one letter of the name, course, or date and verification fails.

How is that different from a normal PDF certificate?

A PDF or PNG certificate is just a picture — anyone can open it in an editor and change the name, course, or grade, and nobody can tell. A verifiable certificate pairs the image with a cryptographically signed record held on the issuing service, plus a public verify URL an employer or regulator can open to confirm the certificate is genuine and unaltered.

Is this an SSL/TLS certificate?

No. SSL/TLS (X.509) certificates secure websites and come from tools like Let's Encrypt or AWS Certificate Manager. Attestify issues document credentials for people — completion, training, and membership certificates — signed with Ed25519 and checkable by anyone at a public verify URL, no account needed.

How does verification work?

Every certificate gets a permanent URL like https://attestify.novadyne.ai/cert/verify/…. Opening it shows the authoritative server record — recipient, course, issuer, issue date — and the Ed25519 signature check. If a certificate was altered or never issued, the page says so. Verification needs no login and works forever.
